{ urgent volunteer needs }
We couldn't accomplish this mission without you. Help us fill the following needs and experience something as rewarding for you as it is for our residents.

Teaching
  • Facilitate bi-weekly Tuesday evening Parenting Class (curriculum w/DVD's provided)

  • Teach budgeting basics class (one or two classes done periodically)

  • Teach a single class on proper house cleaning (Saturday morning)

  • Teach children's Bible Study for elementary/middle school kids (every other Tuesday or Thursday eve)Can teach with another person and/or can alternate teaching with another person(s).

  • Teach basic life skills one-on-one (telling time, reading maps, internet use, etc)

  • Tutor a child, elementary age (1x week, late afternoon or early evening, likely Monday or Wednesday)

  • Tutor a mother (for GED or other skills)

  • Teach a cooking or nutrition class (several times a year, Saturday morning)

  • Teach class on good grooming, manners, and personal presentation in preparation for job interviews

  • Mentor individual client: Help them to prepare their resume' and also assist to coach for job interview

Health
  • Nurses willing to be on call 1 week each month to take calls from mothers needing advice regarding health concerns, specifically those that surface after hours

  • Fitness Mentor/Health Coach, to work with a resident who has health issues

  • Teach periodic class on basic hygiene for healthy family life (repeat several times a year Sat morning)

General
  • On-call bicycle maintenance and repair

  • Gardening/landscaping. Come alone, or participate with a gardening team.

  • Kids Club: Child Care volunteers to assist staff (Tuesday and Thursday evenings or Saturday morning, 1-4 times a month.)

  • Provide transportation for residents to doctor appointments, job interviews, grocery shopping/other. Generally several days advance notice given.

Volunteer training and background check are required for all volunteers working with clients/residents. A training DVD is also available to help volunteers start changing lives even sooner.
